We are in Brittany for a couple more days. On our final day in Guemene we walked through town one more time. A local stray dog followed us for a while. At first I was nervous but Mango liked the dog, they wanted to play. A local man then came along and knew the dog, a neighbor’s. Each morning the dog does his rounds around the village, and he had a special treat meeting Mango that morning. Sadly I did not get a photo of the dog. He was about 3x the size of Mango, looked like a springer spaniel to me. I did get a picture of a glorious Iris, and a village street on our way back to the Gite.

We drove to Nevez (both villages have accents but I don’t know how to type them with my computer).

Today we went to Tahiti Beach. Funny it’s called that! It was not tropical or warm, it was windy, chilly and had been raining earlier. Still, we love the beach. Mango gets to run free on beaches when it’s safe for her. It’s something we have done since the very beginning of our time together when she was 2 or 3 years old, 9 years ago.

Next, we drove to Pont-Aven. It’s on the list of best places to visit in Brittany, and so we did. Glad we did, and also, I preferred Guemene. What I’m finding as we drive from place to place is that Brittany is filled with charming little villages. Each has a boulangerie, a boucherie, a pharmacie, a vet, a tabac, etc. Each has its own gorgeous church maybe a little bigger or a little smaller than another village, stone buildings, lovely flowers and kind people.

There are some towns that are noted in the travel guides, and while I’ve only visited two of those, based on my terribly insignificant data sampling it might be that those have more tourists wandering around, more shops, museums and hotels and restaurants. But for me, not more delicious bread and cheese, or not better places to explore and enjoy nature, not fresher produce, etc. I’m so glad we decided to use those guides as exactly that, guides. And stayed a bit further away. And visited. And explored the areas around our landing spots. And met the cows(there are cows next door here, too. Mango is enchanted).
